The LOG is a project under the AFRICTIVISTES 2018–2022 four-year programme. It aims to support, equip, train and assist local authorities in adopting digital tools to promote budget transparency, access to information, anti-corruption efforts and co-creation with civic initiatives.

The project identifies local needs and provides one or more AFRICTIVISTES volunteers with relevant expertise to work closely with the local authority towards its goals.

Target countries: Senegal, Mali, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Benin, The Gambia, Togo, Mauritania, Chad, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Niger.

« La corruption n’investit pas dans l’avenir, elle tue l’avenir. » — Akinwumi Adesina

Participation requirements

Participation is free of charge for any local authority in one of the target countries. Interested municipalities and local authorities will be invited to apply online, by country, using an application form available on the official AFRICTIVISTES.ORG website. However, some essential minimum requirements must be met to ensure the project’s sustainability. These include:

  • The political will and motivation of the municipal executive to open its data, improve access to public information and promote civic participation;
  • A willingness to sign the partnership agreement proposed by AFRICTIVISTES; and
  • A commitment by the applicant authority to contribute 10% of the project’s total cost, financially or in kind.

Selection criteria

The selection criteria will be flexible, given that the subject is new. Each application will be assessed in light of the circumstances in the country and locality concerned, and against the following requirements for implementing and sustaining the project:

  • Access to an internet connection of the required quality in the applicant’s area;
  • Availability of human resources able to take ownership of the project; and
  • Applicable laws and regulations that support civic participation and access to public information.

If you would like to become a partner in this project, please email infos@africtivistes.org.
