AfricTivistes supports students at the Centre sénégalo-américain de renforcement des capacités (CESARC)
AfricTivistes is supporting the Centre sénégalo-américain de renforcement des capacités (CESARC) by offering four (4) scholarships to young people from the suburbs of Dakar. These scholarships will allow beneficiaries to undertake a 10-month vocational training programme at CESARC, due to start on 21 October 2024.
This initiative is part of CESARC’s Mentoring-Learning-Coaching, Advocacy and Capacity Building (MACAC) programme, designed to combat the high unemployment rates in the suburbs of Dakar and its outskirts, particularly in Keur Massar, Mbao, Jaxaay, Tivaouane Peul and Rufisque. The programme also aims to reduce poverty and crime and prevent ‘irregular’ migration, by providing young people with practical skills that are in demand on the job market.
According to the criteria defined by CESARC to further motivate learners, each scholarship holder will make a small personal contribution to the training costs.
The courses available include trades such as electricity, construction, web and multimedia marketing and drugstore sales. In addition to technical courses, participants will benefit from work placements and personalised mentoring with experts in their field of training.
At the end of the training, students will be supported in their career path to facilitate their integration into the job market, in line with the institute’s motto: ‘Training for all, work for everyone’.
The scholarships are intended for young unemployed or self-employed people in the Dakar suburbs who want to acquire stable professional skills.
The deadline for submitting applications is 15th October 2024. Female applicants are strongly encouraged.
